But prior to my new mobo i had also got the Sound Blaster Z series card. Which sound device should be the clear choice to use here?

Does anyone really have a straight up answer on which device they think i should be using? Mar 3, 6, 0 35, 2, Sound Blaster Z should sound better.

I would try gaming on both and see which one you find to be more pleasing. You must log in or register to reply here.If you are reading this message, Please click this link to reload this page. Most customers receive within days. Sold and Shipped by T3Wares a-seller. Overall Review: Worked good for about a few months but started getting constant hardware and blue screens when playing games or watching videos i changed out the motherboard with a new one and haven't had the issue since.

Pros: A solid and stable board out of the box at the default purchased ram speeds for a short time for me until the latest bios update. IK worked on the first boot and very stable on this board even over clocked but have good cooling and the latest BIOS for the memory speeds.

The IK can due 4.

Why Nobody Buys Sound Cards Anymore?

The on board sound is really nice providing no noise except the sound and very clear but I got a sound blaster Z and it is better. Like other people I like the look and color of this board and am really enjoying it these days. Cons: No WiFi or Bluetooth but I can buy the same or better in a year or two because its not built in.

Not all the applications the higher end boards have and lots more money in my own pocket. Overall Review: Yes Yes More on-board fan connectors. Pros: Easy install worked well with Aura Sync. Cons: on of the sticks RGB stopped working about 8 months in. Overall Review: I like the look and would be 5 stars if the RGB hadn't stopped on the second stick 8 months in.

Cons: product got into a boot loop - continually rebooting so never could get to the point of installing OS. I changed out every component I could. Warning - buying a motherboard from Newegg is a bad idea. I had to go to Best Buy and buy a motherboard to finish my build. Lesson learned. Pros: Installation was a breeze.Forums New posts Search forums. New posts New posts New profile posts Latest activity. Members Current visitors New profile posts Search profile posts. I'm thinking of buying a dedicated sound card, but where I live there aren't that many options.

It will ve mainly used for gaming, as I listen to music through my receiver which is connected via HDMI. Stuff like external volume controls are not needed.

Joined Jul 11, Messages 9, What features are you looking for when gaming? For me, the reason to get a creative card is the down-mixing. I like having the ability to take a 5. Some games already provide a very good stereo option so there is a bit of trial and error per game but it is a very nice option to have. The X-Fi cards give up nothing compared to the Z series despite being older. They are similar but not the same, and some prefer one or the other. GotNoRice said:. I was wondering if I could do away with my ZxR to save some case space and perhaps offset some of the cost of the new parts. I am mostly interested in how the virtual surround sound performs with headphones for positional audio in games.

Would there be any perceivable difference between the following options: 1. May 18, at PM 2. May 18, at PM 3. OK thanks. Would be nice if they offered a limited period trial. Jun 9, at PM 4. Back to answer my own question in case anyone else is interested.

The sound was good, as was the feature set, however I didn't like the software. Sonic Studio II, which applies the audio enhancements, is now a separate application. Previously it was built into the main audio control panel. Sonic Radar II is also another separate application. So you have to make changes in multiple places.

The profiles that you can create in Sonic Studio II only include the settings within that app. Thankfully this is a single control panel for all the settings, all of which are included within your saved profiles. It works by creating a second virtual sound card in your system. This means that you do not get things like automatic headphone detection, but then a single click sets things up according to your profile.

I tried downgrading from ZxR to on-board gigabyte z97x g1-bk creative chip but headphones are not silent when nothing is playing. There is a bit of noise that I can hear on Phidelio x1.For more details, read the rest of this web release note. For more details, read the rest of this Web release note. Thread starter Kryogen Start date Jan 22, Kryogen Gawd. Joined Feb 3, Messages I see that asus is advertising good audio for its z prime board. Do I still need a separate sound card to get better audio for music and games, or it's just not needed?

Nothing audiophile, but still, I don't like crappy popping sound. Joined Mar 26, Messages 12, A dedicated sound card hasn't been needed in many years. Especially if you have to ask That being said, some specific use cases require the use of one.

Joined Jul 11, Messages 9, There are two main things that you have to consider. Stuff like Virtual surround sound that can either downmix 7.

There are many examples, and plenty of people make use of those features, but they are all optional and you will never "need" anything more than onboard. The DAC is where the analog audio signal is actually created, so this has a huge impact on the sound. Anything that already outputs analog audio already has a DAC, but there are many possibilities where you can upgrade to a better DAC.

This does not have to be directly related to which features you need. If you have a soundcard and you like it's features for example, you can use the DAC on the soundcard or you can use a different DAC instead by simply running a digital cable from your soundcard to an external DAC. Some external DACs can plug into a computer via USB basically making them an external soundcard and bypassing any other sound device you already have.Together with a wealth of enhancements, including one-click optimization, the latest connectivity and futuristic styling with onboard illumination, ROG Strix ZE Gaming makes a formidable foundation for ATX gaming builds that go above and beyond.
